David Razú Aznar is an economist with extensive experience in the financial sector. He is an expert in financial management, social security, and labor economics. Since 2021, he has served as Chief Executive Officer of Afore XXI Banorte. During his tenure, the pension fund administrator became the largest pension fund in Latin America, as well as the leader in responsible investing in Mexico and the region.

Prior to this role, he held various positions in government and financial institutions at both the national and international levels, focusing on social security, labor markets, and urban development finance. In the political sphere, he served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Mexico City, where he championed the same-sex marriage initiative in 2009, the first of its kind to be approved in Latin America.

He holds a degree in Economics from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM), where he also earned a diploma in stock market finance. In addition, he holds a Master’s degree in Development Administration from the London School of Economics and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Harvard University. He served as a professor of deficit financing and public debt at the National Institute of Public Administration and as a teaching assistant in intermediate economics at ITAM. He is also a columnist on economic and financial topics for various national and international media outlets.
