Diego Valero

Diego Valero is a PhD in Economics, an actuary, and a full professor at the University of Barcelona, with extensive academic experience also at IE University and other institutions. He has developed a distinguished career in the field of pensions, both in academia and in the business world, serving as co-founder and president of Novaster.
He has held important roles such as president of OCOPEN and vice president of Spainsif, and has advised governments and parliaments in Europe and Latin America on pension matters. He is a member of the U.S. Social Security Academy and has participated in initiatives such as the Toledo Pact in Spain.
Author of numerous books and articles, he has contributed to the dissemination of knowledge on pensions, including translations of key works in the field. His work has been recognized with international awards, notably the IPE European Outstanding Contribution to Pensions Award 2025.
