María Teresa Silva-Porto is a Senior Specialist in the Social Protection and Labor Markets Division at the IDB, where she leads projects focused on skills development, access to employment, and pension systems. Previously, she served as an IDB Country Economist and as a consultant for the Bank’s Labor Markets Division, where she coordinated the Retirement Savings Laboratory.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of the Americas Puebla and a master’s degree in Public Policy from the University of Oxford. Throughout her professional career, she has held advisory positions within the Mexican public sector, including serving as advisor to the Secretary of Labor and Social Welfare and as Director of Social Policy and Employment in the Advisory Office of the Presidency of Mexico.
In addition, she has collaborated with several international organizations, including the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), the European Commission, and the German Agency for International Cooperation.
